What an Absolutely Incredible Fishing Opener 2026 here at Silver Lake Resort and the entire June Lake Loop. The weather was above average for a change and the fishing was spectacular. The weekend was filed with a lot of happy, smiley faces and we saw a ton of great fish come into the scale in the store. Anglers saw some great action on all the reliable baits and lures, with Berkley Pinch Crawlers, Mice Tails and Garlic Dough Baits working well and Thomas Buoyant, Needle Fish and The Mook seeing lots of action on the waters, as well as the Mini Jigs like the Golden State Fishing Jig and Sierra Slammers working well.

Silver Lake was super successful at Ernies Tackle June Lake Loop Monster Trout Contest, winning the largest fish caught by a youngster in the Loop with 11 year old Hayden Mcanally of Heber City Utah dragging in a beautiful 4 pound 8oz Rainbow caught from a boat on Silver using a Thomas Buoyant, Bonnie Peak of Oregon landed a 5 pound 8 oz Rainbow caught using Berkley Power Bait won the biggest fish caught by a lady in the Loop and Vince Chiaramonte of San Diego brought in the largest fish caught in Silver Lake weighing in at 6 pound 6 oz caught on Power Bait.

Look for another great load of Desert Springs 3 to 5 pounders getting dumped into Silver Lake in the next week or so to help kick off the start of the season and we plan to get a load of the Big Desert Springs Rainbows about every 4 to 5 weeks throughout the entire summer and keep watching for our fishing reports that we will be working on putting out every other week throughout the summer.
